I am a social worker by background and I have worked in homelessness and mental health since 1994.
Between 1999 and 2013 I worked for what is now Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, where I was a senior social worker, managed a multi-disciplinary mental health team, developed new services and supported staff training and development. I was warranted as an Approved Mental Health Professional between 2004 and 2014.
From 2010 to 2012 I was the key figure developing and providing the mental health input to the No Second Night Out project’s first assessment hub.
Previously I worked in Nigeria developing a community psychiatric program, and in London for a large homeless charity, St Mungo’s.
In 2001, with a group of others, I founded Amaudo UK, a charity supporting mental health projects in Africa; I remain actively involved and was previously a trustee and Chair of Trustees.
I work four days a week for EASL, and remain involved in direct assessments and training as well as in management and development of the organization. On my other day I remain in involved in statutory work related to the Mental Health Act 1983.
On behalf of EASL I have provided training around Mental Health Act Assessments and Homeless People to Local Authority employed social workers across London boroughs and in many parts of the country.
