I am a mental health social worker, and currently work on a sessional basis for EASL, part-time. I primarily carry out mental health assessments with people who have been homeless, in triage centres or hotels, to arrange appropriate care and treatment for them, develop care plans, and prepare reports for housing application purposes.
I have a special interest in the Mental Capacity Act, and have helped to develop guidance and training on this for EASL, as well as being an independent trainer in this field.
I have long-term experience of working in statutory mental health services, where I worked last as a Senior Practitioner in a short-term assessment and brief treatment team. I also worked as an AMHP under the Mental Health Act and as a Best Interest Assessor under the Mental Health Act. I have experience also in child protection, and am particularly interested in maternal mental health and family support. I have trained also in counselling, and enjoy the therapeutic side of work with clients.
