After graduating as an Occupational Therapist in 2008 from Canterbury Christ Church University, my first job was as a support worker in a women’s hostel on the mental health unit and this introduced me to the complexities and resilience of people experiencing homelessness. Since then I have been working in various OT and Care Coordinator roles in the mental health sector working in daycentres, recovery & rehabilitation teams and assertive outreach teams. I am really passionate about working with people experiencing homelessness and about health inclusion for homeless populations. I have experience of working in the homeless sector within the Pathway hospital discharge teams and START mental health outreach teams. In my previous role I was also providing inreach support to a refugee daycentre and working with the volunteers there. I enjoy using my OT specific skills to think with clients about their recovery goals, routine, structure and meaningful activity. I am an OT Practice Educator and have regularly supervised OT students on placement. I joined EASL in August 2024.
